Current Music: none...my XM radio was deactivated.
This was my first time to ever see either Rob Zombie or Godsmack. D had seen Rob before back in the White Zombie days. Let me just say I was not let down. Rob lived up to my expectations. Rob Zombie is an artistic hero of mine. I love his music, his art, his writing and his movies. He was cemented into the Gallery of Heroes in my head when he accepted the job to redesign Disneyland for Halloween a few years ago. Essentially, I'd love to be Rob Zombie. Or at the very least...have his job. You know I even heard he wrote the script for that recent kids movie MONSTER HOUSE. No confirmation on that yet, but what a versatile guy if he did. Anyway, back to the concert. Rob only performed a few songs from his AMERICAN WITCH album, but sang 'Superbeast', 'Living Dead Girl' (my personal favorite), and 'Dragula' from HELLBILLY DELUXE. He sang some older stuff, 'House of 1000 Corpses', 'More Human Than Human' and '1965'. It was phenomenal. My friend JD texted my hubby during the show and asked if I had 'wood' watching Rob Zombie on stage. YES, JD. I had a hard-on for Mr. Zombie's performance. You know me. Anything scary and I getta chub. One of my favorite parts was when the whole crowd was chanting 'ZOM-BIE', 'ZOM-BIE', 'ZOM-BIE' for like 5 minutes to get him back on stage. Then GODSMACK came to the stage. D and I were sadly underimpressed for the first 15 minutes of the show so we went to buy a t-shirt. I got this awesome black hoodie with Rob Zombie art on it.
Excuse my messy desk :-) When we returned to the stage, the GODSMACK show quickly took off! They really did give an awesome live performace. We watched front man Sully Erna and Shannon Larkin do the bands signature Drumming Duel "Batalla de los Tambores" (got that from wikipedia) and it was off the hook! All in all it was a fantastic experience and I was so happy to be there with my hubby, Darrell. We had so much fun. |
